OFAC amends Cuban Assets Control Regulations: issues new list
On 23rd September 2020, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced that it will amend the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (85 FR 60068). Specifically, this amendment:
adds a new prohibition “for persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction regarding lodging and related transactions at certain properties in Cuba”
amends several general licenses (GLs) to incorporate the Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List (1)
amends four general licenses restricting the import of Cuban-origin alcohol and tobacco products into the U.S.
amends a GL regarding attending or organizing professional meetings/conferences in Cuba
removes a GL authorizing U.S. person to participate/organize public performances, clinics, workshops, etc and replaces it with a specific licensing policy.

For more information on the new ‘Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List,’ please see the Federal Register. This list is effective the 28th September 2020 and is accessible on the State Department’s website.
