European Commission extends relief for VAT and customs duties on medical equipment imports

On 23rd July 2020, the European Commission extended the temporary relief of VAT and customs duties on imported medical equipment from third countries in order to assist member states in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. EU member states can now waive import duties and VAT on masks, protective equipment, testing kits, ventilators and other medical equipment until 31st October 2020.
