Export regulations on firearms and ammunition amended by the U.S. Departments of State and Commerce
The U.S. Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) have jointly published final rulings moving certain firearms and ammunition from the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Specifically, items in Categories I-III of the ITAR’s U.S. Munitions List (USML) that no longer warrant control on the USML will be controlled on the Commerce Control List (CCL).
