EU Council adopts sanction framework against Turkey for drilling activities in the Mediterranean
On 11 November 2019 the Council of the European Union announced that it has adopted a framework for restrictive measures against Turkey as a response to their unauthorized drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean. This framework makes it possible to sanction persons or entities that are 1) responsible for, 2) supporting (financially, technically, or materially), or 3) associated with the drilling activities in the territorial waters of Cyprus.
