The BAFA/U.S. Export Control Forum 2018 in Frankfurt am Main
On Thursday, September 13, 2018, the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) held the BAFA/U.S. Export Control Forum 2018 at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt am Main. Two members of PST.AG were in attendance, Christian Piehler (Head of Compliance ) and Simon Niehus (Data Manager).
BAFA invited representatives of the following U.S. export control authorities to the forum to present information and updates regarding export control, licenses, and sanctions.
Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)
Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC)
Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
During the morning session BIS presented export regulations and the latest developments within its department. In the afternoon sessions, OFAC and DDTC presented future sanction regulations, including the munition list and financial sanctions.
BAFA also presented information about the differences in German and U.S. regulatory practices.
