Changes in Customs Declaration for Thai Rice Export

Thailand is the major jasmine rice exporter with a worldwide trade of about 10,000 metric tonnes (2016 - 2017).

Before, obtaining license and paying duties for rice trade were easy due to central e-Customs system. In effect, the import and export process began once a company was registered with Value Added Tax (VAT) authority.

But, from 2017, new regulations have been introduced by Thailand's Department of Foreign Trade. Now, they require permit to export rice in regard to Harmonized System Code (HSC) which has been activated since January 1st, 2017.
